Look out Dark Souls, here comes the Lords of The Fallen...
Seriously, that just sounds like a badass rock group or something. Lords of The Fallen actually plays like an easier kind of Dark Souls; when you die, you can go where you die and pick up your lost experience points, there's these scrolls lying about that give clues and detail things that've happened prior to your character appearing at the scene, the combat system is exactly like Dark Souls, the world is more linear and although not as open, it's less confusing than the Dark Souls game environments.
I'm not gonna lie: I bought this game because the character on the cover seemed very Viking-ish. I was a little put off by the Dark Souls-like gameplay and it wasn't until after I got into Bloodborne that I was intrigued to go back and play this game. Since when, I beat 2 bosses, died several times, rose about 12 levels in experience points, and refound the guy that I came with to this monastery full of nasty demonic creatures. Turns out he's a monk who released my character (Who cannot be customized) from prison named Harkin. What crimes Harkin did, I do not know but this monk says he offers no redemption for me, he just feels I'm the man who can stop these horrible monsters from well, taking over the world.
All in all, I think Lords of The Fallen gets 5 out 5 hero prisoners... It's got a pretty epic soundtrack, great gameplay, interesting story, and great characters and enemy design. Even if your not a fan of Dark Souls or fantasy games, I do suggest you give this game a chance... It's dark and challenging but not overly so. I think Lords of The Fallen is quite possibly one of the best action adventures for the next generation consoles as of yet. | |
