It's time to review a classic of man vs. machine, the unwanting vs. destiny, and Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. an actor that dies in ALMOST everything I've seen him in...

The Terminator is an early 80s action thriller about a machine sent back in time to kill every woman in Los Angeles with the name Sarah Connor. Turns out that in the near future an artificial intelligence called SkyNet takes over the Earth and nukes the Earth, a handful of resistance fighters led by a man named John Connor strike back and gives SkyNet a run for it's money. So SkyNet, master ruler of the machine overlords decides to send a Terminator (a machine with skin and hair designed to infiltrate human outposts and kill everyone) back in time to kill the mother of the resistance leader before he's born. But the humans attack the base and are able to send a hero back as well to fight off the ultimate war machine and protect Sarah Connor. The villainous Terminator is played by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger and how cool is that?

"Ya, it ice I, the Govarnador Barbarion of Kalifurnya! Now chill end zee how cool I em!"
-Arnold Scwharzenegger as Mr. Freeze.

Okay, I apologize for that and won't bring up Arnold in that God awful movie again... At least for this review. ANYWAYS... Arnold does a damn good job acting as a non-stopping machine on a mission that'd make the Energizer bunny look like a lazy wimp that constantly quits his jobs. The hero is played by Michael Biehn who's known for roles like Corporal Hicks in Aliens, Johnny Ringo in Tombstone, and that psychotic SEAL in The Abyss and wouldn't you know it, (SPOILER ALERT!!!) his character of Kyle Reese, John Connor's most trusted soldiers is actually the guy who knocks up Sarah to birth John. Now you might be thinking if SkyNet were to win, it'd totally mess up the timeline and SkyNet would wind up not needing to send a Terminator back in time... Well, needless to say the good guys prevail and I think this movie purposely wanted to make a loophole where things are destined to happen which I admit, is weird for a film series that makes a quote "There's no fate but what you make for yourself."

"I'll be beck... I'll alwayz kome beck... It iz my deztynee..."
-Arnold as The Terminator

Now, when we watch this now the acting and special effects may seem cheesy but for the time this was a great film that kept people on the edge of their seats wondering how the humans would stop this machine and what would happen if machines and artificial intelligences took over. Ideas that've been around for decades but this movie really took it to whole new level to the point that 32 years later they're STILL making sequels and spinoffs in the series and expanding the Terminator universe. Sure, some of these movies and games aren't that great but The Terminator seemed to inspire movie makers and game developers to keep going as though they are never dying Terminators themselves.

Sure parts of this movie could be better, more entertaining, make more sense, the relationship seems a little forced but meh, it's a good action movie in my opinion. The Terminator gets 4 out of 5 time travelling killer cyborgs.
