Resident Evil fan? Prepare to be shocked...
This one isn't bad... It's just freakin' weird. It all starts with Harry Mason (Hmmm, wonder if he's related to a famous lawyer that never loses) taking his adopted daughter to Silent Hill for a vacation. But things take a turn for the worse when he crashes his SUV and wakes up in fog filled Niflheim... Nah, not that bad. But he does find himself at his vacation destination of Silent Hill (AKA Hell on Earth) with his daughter gone missing.
The monsters in this game are just odd, from how they move to how they attack. I mean, I realize they were trying to make something different than Castlevania or Resident Evil and implement psychological horror, but the way these things roam about just make no sense to rhyme or reason in my opinion. There's some tough puzzles to figure out, a whole town to explore very openly (unlike the tight corridors of Resident Evil), and a much smaller amount of useable weapons and items (also unlike Resident Evil).
Not sure what else I can say about Silent Hill as it's been very hard for me to get into it. From what I understand there's multiple endings including a bad joke one involving aliens (Did Michael Bay or Hideo Kojima have a hand in this game?) and the atmosphere is really cool and original. I really want to give Silent Hill a chance but ugh, I just can't get into it... Though it is one worth checking out, very spooky and atmospheric. It gets 3 out 5 abandoned ghost towns to just randomly drive your kids to for a good time. | |
