Once again, Hollywood believed redoing a classic with a new story and modern special effects would be more of a success than the classic... Once again, the new film fails to come CLOSE to the classic...

The movie begins with Samuel L. mother-bleeping Jackson hosting a mud slinging TV show saying how the military is using these advanced robots to fight wars and how it makes people perfectly safe... Then one of the robots (An ED-209) sees an Afghanistan kid holding a kitchen knife and shoots the kid (On live television) with his 50+ calibur guns... You don't actually see the carnage unlike the original movie, but they definitely cranked up the emotion in this movie. So Samuel L. Jackson is blah blah-ing about how these robots make things safe (In case you hadn't seen your own show, Sam: A Metal Gear looking wannabe just obliterated a minor for HOLDING A KITCHEN KNIFE!!!) and it's total BS that a senator is saying we shouldn't have machines in law enforcement because they can't really make judgment calls... So OmniCorp (the company that designed these war machines) figures, "Let's get around this by putting a man in the machine."

"System online... Mission: Seek and destroy any cardboard boxes which may or may not contain any SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKES..."
-Modern ED 209

"Get lost, poser... You have 5 seconds to comply before I shoot you! ... Gonna shoot you anyway..."
-Classic ED-209

Now we meet Detective Alex Murphy (Who wasn't a detective in the original) and his partner, Lewis (Who is no longer a tomboyish asskicking woman but now a black guy) and they're working undercover to get this arms dealer (Who isn't nearly as badass or as hated as the criminal in the original played by that guy from that 70s show) and surprise surprise, this movie does the terrible, "It's the black cop that got shot first."

"I'm glad I didn't partake in this remake... I'd have been fired and sued for sticking my foot in the writer's ass."
-Clarence Boddicker, original RoboCop bad guy

So now there's some crooked cops telling the arms dealer they need to take care of Murphy, the detective won't drop the case. The wimp bad guy is too scared to kill a cop! The original bad guy pretty much acted like he could do whatever he wanted and got away with it! Someone already HAS a foot up their ass! Anyways, crooked cops coax the bad guy into getting rid of Murphy and they bomb his car. It also bugs me; he gets to go home and put his kid to bed, strip his wife and about to have sex, THEN the bad guys set off the car alarm to get his attention... Car blows up with Murphy just feet away and his family looking out windows... They didn't make the scene graphic, it's like they tried to make it more "Oh my God, that's wrong!" then the 1987 movie.

So now a doctor that's an expert of prosthetics and under the employ of OmniCorp (Played by Gary Oldman) is telling the wife all the damage is done and they can save him but it they have to get her consent now. She gives it, they take away everything but his head, throat, lungs, and his right hand (For some reason... I mean, they didn't keep his arm, just the hand.) He maintains his humanity, which slows him down in combat situations and OmniCorp doesn't like that) so THAT also gets taken away and upsets the wife... After a while, RoboCop starts to remember and decides to solve the attempted murder on his life, which leads to him shooting the 2 crooked cops (One of which had surrendered and was unarmed) and nearly forcing the chief of police to confess to her involvement... But OmniCorp feels he's taking law and justice too far so they put him in Standby mode and put a hit on the cyborg hero of Detroit...

"Seriously, Doc... What the Hell? Who put those jackasses in charge of anything, let alone a multi-billion dollar company?!"
-Alex Murphy

For a modern sci-fi cop movie... It's not bad but it's not good either. But seeing as they call it RoboCop? The title of a movie filled with super bloody violence, a tragic story of a company turning a corpse into a cybernetic Frankenstein monster, and then THAT creation starts to remember the man merged with machine, and he remembers the look on his killer's face when they repeatedly shot him with shotguns?! Hell, in this he's still able to love and be with his family. Like I said before, they turned down the violence in this remake and flooded the movie with emotion while making RoboCop this war machine on a Ducati motorcycle firing 2 guns at a time... I'm sorry but this movie is NOT RoboCop and it gets a 1 of 5 rating.

"Your own creation is a burn on you, modern Hollywood."
-The REAL RoboCop
