More girl vampires with lower back tattoos than you can swing a... You know what? Nevermind... Nothing good can come of that headline.

So this game begins with your character, which you create using a simple RPG class system (No customization implemented), having sex with someone (No, you don't get to see! ... Perverts...) and gets bitten... Then some vampire thugs break down the door and throw stakes (Y'know, of wood... Not dead cows...) into your chest and the guy/girl that bit you... He/she is executed on a stage to set an example to the different Vampire clans of Los Angeles and so were you... Then the leader of the rebellious more street can of Vampires stands up and saves your life. You're then sent out the back of the building for a training area (The guy you meet, Jack, is a pretty cool Vampire). Once that's completed, it's your standard "Do everyone's errands" kinda Role Playing Game...

"I'm bleeding out my ass on my fancy sofa because I messed up the job I was sent on... Hey, could you do it for me?"
-Mercurio

"So the thing is I give a cut to a Russian mod boss but am tired of doing so... Could you explain it to him, or do my dirty work and kill him, for me? Thanks, you're super.
-Venus

Of course you can decline anything you think is beneath you in this game, but the gamplay and characters does change on you. Siding more with one of the Voerman sisters will get the other killed, stuff like that. I always side with Jeanette though (Don't you judge me!)

"I like you, Jeanette... You're sexy, always loved the name, plus you totally rock that plaid skirt... I'm just saying..."

This game has got some pretty cool characters and some major plot twists, I'm actually surprised no one has made a recent Vampire: The Masquerade game as this one seems so popular and successful. The gameplaycan be from a 1st person (Shooting guns) or 3rd person (Melee weapons) perspective. In a lot of ways, this game reminds me of a gothic Grand Theft Auto (Clubs, criminal nature, casual sexual content, everyone seemingly out to get you despite being a grunt) meets Oblivion (Combat, character interaction, effort put into quests).

"Come here! I know I'm ugly but I'm thirsty, damn it!"
-Nosferatu Clan Vampire

So how would I rate Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines? Well, despite the long name and bugs in the gamplay,  the game is pretty fun and definitely worth checking out if you like vampires, RPGs, or both. I give VTMB 4 out of 5 ancestral Vampires reaking havoc.
