Some may know the old strategy game Star Control about 2 opposing
alliances being at war... Really not much of a story from what I know.
But this is different... I'm talking about Star Control 2, a space action/adventure game with an epic storyline and tons of aliens to interact, with and lots of your upgrades for your ship which pretty much sucks at the beginning.
So the game starts that you or family were part of The Alliance of Free Stars (The good guys of Star Control) and you discovered a skeleton of a advanced kind of starship. Needless to say, you Captain the starship to head back to Earth to offer your assistance and whatnot. Earth is enclosed in a slave shield and the only space station nearby is at critical levels of necessary crap like life support! After helping the earthlings on the station out, you learn The Alliance of Free Stars lost the war and the humans on the station are slaves of the Ur-Quan and are the only ones their masters want outta the slave shield... This is an Ur-Quan in case you're wondering...
Dude! They may look like some squid monster that's blood would stain Conan The Barbarian's sword, but their ships are powerful monstrous machines that can turn the USS Enterprise to shit! Oh, and that brown toady thing is a translator as the Ur-Quan speak Gargle-Barf or something. But this game is seriously badass when it comes to 90s space adventures. Why?
The battles get intense...
There's more than enough races to meet, befriend and/or blast to pieces...

And lots and lots of galaxies to explore as well as an epic storyline!!!
What's not to like? My suggestion is this: If you can find this game, get it! Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters gets 4 out of 5 super novas.
