Doom... TO THE 64TH POWER! Nintendo 64 power that is...

So the story of Doom64 is pretty simple just like the previous Doom games. The plot is you're still that guy that fought hordes of demons through Phobos, Deimos, Hell, Earth, and then Hell again. Now the military got this idea, "Hey... Why don't we, like, nuke Mars's moons and just kill all the demons? That's a great idea!" Right? ... Wrong! Although most of the demons were killed, "something" survived and resurrected ALL the demons that were killed. Soooooooooooo, not just the ones the nukes killed but all those bastards you killed IN THE FIRST GAME AS WELL! So the military get another idea, "Why don't we send a squad of marines in to kill the threat? After all, one marine killed all the monsters before. A SQUAD should be more sure success!" Right? ... WRONG!!! The squad gets themselves killed and the only survivor is the guy from THE LAST 2 GAMES!!! Seriously, where do they recruit these soldiers? Jackass-suicide-ville, USA?!?!

"... They all died? Well it's a good thing I ate Lucky Charms for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert, AND a midnight snack."
- Doom Guy

Okay, so with games like Doom the story is pointless. You're in a situation, you only have a pistol, and surrounded by meanies that want you dead, that's all you need to know really. Now the gameplay of Doom was pretty awesome with it's headbanging soundtrack and bright colored monsters that explode when shot with your shotgun... Well, Doom64 actually tries to live up to the word "DOOM" and not the fun badassity that the previous games were. Does that mean the game sucks? That depends. Personally I think Doom64 is what Doom/Doom II should've been: The music is creepier, more ambient, ammo isn't as abundant, rooms are darker, monsters seem more ferocious unlike their non-nuclear radiation mutated predecessors...

"Hmmm... Those are some DOOMED Space Marines..."
- Duke Nukem

So yeah, if horror games are your thing you really should check this out. Coolest part is there's a port in development called Doom64 EX and it exists to bring Doom64 in all it's glory to PC. So what does Doom64 get rating-wise? Believe it or not I give it 5 out of 5 doomed Space Marines as I feel it's more Doom than the original Doom can handle.

... Gir loves his doom... And waffles too!
